Originally founded by John Johnson and DOD Electronics founder David DiFrancesco, Digitech is now owned by the Harmon company and offers a wide range of effects pedals. Originally, DOD concentrated on effects pedals and Digitech focused on rack gear. Eventually, the DOD brand was subsumed under the Digitech label.
Perhaps the company's most well known (and successful) effects pedal is the Digitech Whammy, which is used by a wide variety of guitar players for its excellent pitch shifting and harmonizing effects. Currently, the company focuses on single effects pedals (many of which are based on DOD designs) and multi-effects units. Digitech now distributes the JamMan loopers, originally made by Lexicon. The flagship Digitech pedals are branded as the "Hardwire" series, which feature true bypass switching and top-of-the-line construction.
