Founded by Canadian guitarist Peter Janis and guitarist/engineer Denis Rozon, Radial Engineering is home to a wide variety of high quality audio gear aimed at everyone from live sound engineers to gigging guitar players. Known for making some of the best direct boxes in the business, Radial also manufactures the Tonebone series of pedals, which offer a wide variety of tonal and routing solutions for guitarists and bass players alike.
Tonebone pedals are known for their rugged, durable construction as well as their professional audio performance. The most popular models are the distortion and overdrive pedals that are powered by real 12AX7 preamp tubes. Models include the Trimode, Plexitube (a favorite of Eric Johnson), Hot British, and Classic, all with unique voicings and feature set (our personal favorite being the Plexitube).
Of course, being Radial Engineering, they do a lot more than “just” overdrive and distortion pedals. You can find several pedals that fit a variety of different niches. They offer pedals that allow you to use two different amplifier heads with the same cabinet or vice versa. Or, if you want to connect your guitar to two amplifiers without worrying about ground loops, the Tonebone “Switchbone” has you covered.
Recently. Radial has introduced the “Bones” series of effects pedals that offers classic Tonebone sounds in a smaller package. Current effects include the “Hollywood” Dual Distortion, “London” Dual Distortion, “Texas” Dual Overdrive, and “Vienna” Chorus.
